A “Let’s Go” attitude, the story behind the name...
Out of the blue, my 62 year old Father, a very big and healthy 6'3" retired NYC detective, was diagnosed with a rare stage 4 abdominal cancer. Without warning his life had changed, and he was determined to fight. Our family was in the hospital pre-op room with him. He was about to undergo his 2nd major surgery to remove cancer growth. The time arrived when we were asked to leave him. After our good-bye's, I lingered hidden behind a corner wall, still able to see and hear my Dad and his nurse who was about to escort him to the OR. My Dad was sitting in his Johnny and in good cheer. The nurse then asked, “Are you ready?” His answer was quick, eager and confident, “Let’s Go”. He stood up, and with conviction in his step, walked down the hall and out of sight. Those words “Let’s Go” stuck with me. They are words from the soul of my Father; words of hope, words of optimism at a time of grave improbability. I believe they are also the words of the cry in all of us who are in a life-changing struggle and have come to a point of readiness to take action. So.....if you are ready.....then “Let’s Go”.
